Q) How do I attach ceiling tracks to hang blankets to my stucco ceiling?

A) For stucco ceilings, attach a flat horizontal support first. For example, you can attach a wooden frame  (like 2 x 4 studs) and then attach the ceiling track support brackets to that flat support.

Here is a video on hanging blankets from a drop ceiling that may help give you an idea how this is done.

Creating a Drum Room – Interview with Podcaster Michael O’Neal

‘’Producer’s Choice Sound Blankets are so worth it. They are a Godsend.’’

nicolemichaelinterviewThis comes from award winning podcaster Michael O’Neal during a video interview with VocalBoothToGo.com. Michael is the founder and host of a nominated 2O13 Stitcher Award Best New Show, The Solopreneur Hour – Job Security for the Unemployable.  Aside from podcasting, he also is a professional drummer. The challenge of having multiple roles created a need for a professional studio space to record his podcast show but also soundproof enough so he could utilize it as a Producer’s Choice acoustic blankets – and not get into noise disturbance trouble.

‘’The houses in my neighborhood are in close quarters, about 100 years old and the rooms couldn’t be less sealed,’’ Michael told VocalBoothToGo.com.‘’ I used Gobos in the corners and behind my drum set but they really didn’t do much at all.’’

Interview with Michael O’Neal / Podcast Recording Studio / Drum Room Soundproofing

Ever wondered how professional podcasters get their sound right? Are you a drummer and have issues with your neighbors?
Michael O’Neal, a professional drummer and podcaster, explains how he managed to kill two birds with one stone: soundproof his drum room to avoid neighbor’s complaints and create an acoustically treated audio recording room at the same time!
Michael hosts a podcast with the goal to help people to make that important step to become successful on their own. You can listen to his award winning show at www.solopreneurhour.com.
As the show became more and more successful Michael needed to come up with a solution to improve the sound quality in his studio and at the same time, being a drummer, he needed to stop the sound from escaping the room so he can play his drums!
Previously, Michael tried to use acoustics gobos, but that did not help much. It might have done something to cut early reflections, but did nothing to stop sound transmission. Outside the room his drums were heard loud and clear.
After thorough research he found Producer’s Choice Acoustic blankets. Michael treated his studio with these sound blankets and he was amazed by the results!
Michael also gives useful tips to fellow drummers to avoid potential conflicts with new neighbors.

Using Producer’s Choice Acoustic Blankets During a Live Gig – A Musician’s Own Story

by Byron Santo, Bassist, Producer, Author & Beta Tester

My background is in performing, recording and mastering, but over the last two 2 years I’ve been doing more live sound due to my mixer beta testing.

One issue that I have encountered as well as many other sound engineers and musicians is bad venue and stage acoustics. I have played gigs that moving one foot on stage resulted in not being able to hear oneself. I started thinking what could live performers do to alleviate these acoustical problems considering that one could not alter the physical structure of the venues or stages. After much research, I discovered VocalBoothToGo’s Producer’s Choice acoustic blankets.

I decided to purchase one blanket to test. I had no experience in acoustic blankets but I did have experience in studio acoustical foam usage. After a few tests in my recording studio I decided to try the blanket in a live situation. Hanging the 6′ x 8′ blanket behind my drummer in an extremely bad acoustical sounding venue produced good results. The early reflections from the drums, amps and monitors were reduced resulting in a cleaner stage and PA sound. Two sound engineers were attending my gig that was familiar with the venue and its acoustical problems also heard a noticeable improvement.

melodycoolI decided to purchase a 2nd acoustic blanket and try it on a stage, which had a back wall made of brick and glass. The side walls were also brick and the physical stage was made of plywood with no carpet and stood four feet tall. It was an acoustical nightmare. I hung the two blankets behind my drummer which resulted in a 12′ wide by 8′ tall section of the back wall being covered. The back wall was close to 18′ wide. The results were amazing — there were hardly any reflections on stage. This resulted in an improved PA sound, no feedback and a better performance for me and fellow musicians.  I was running sound from the stage on that gig, the blankets made my job much easier which allowed me to focus more on playing then sound. The owner of the venue and routine customers heard the difference in my band’s sound quality which resulted in getting booked again. 🙂

My goal is to continue to test the Producers Choice acoustic blankets in a variety of live performance scenarios. I would love to be able to wrap a stage one gig — the entire back wall and two side walls.

Considering the cost of a single blanket, one could easily create an entire mobile acoustic treatment system that could be used in numerous live performance scenarios and not break the bank.

Voice Actor/Voice Over Coach Randye Kaye on Transforming a Bedroom into a Recording Studio

In this Video voice actor and voice over coach Randye Kaye shows her home recording set up. Randye is using 2 Producer’s Choice acoustic Blankets with 2 Ceiling Track kits (Vocal Booth on Track) from http://www.VocalBoothToGo.com.
Using Vocal booth on tracks allows for instant acoustic room treatment and immediate transformation of a bedroom into a home recording studio with great sound on an “on demand” basis.
In this set up Randye used two Producer’s choice blankets VB72G (large-sound-blankets-producers-choice-wgrommets-blackwhite)
with 2 Ceiling Track kits (Vocal Booth on Tracks (7 ft Ceiling Track Kit))
The advantage of using ceiling track kit and sound absorption Acoustic panels is not only a great sounding recording, but also that you do not lose any of your floor space in your room!
