How to Cut Down Noise From A Drum Room With Producer’s Choice Acoustic Blankets

www.VocalBoothToGo.com – Drummers have a bad reputation for being too noisy. Trying to practice with neighbors can be difficult. Adversely, living next door to a banging drum set can be difficult as well.

We made this video to show you first-hand how just one layer of our Producer’s Choice Sound Blankets can reduce the sound coming from your drum set in your practice space.

These sound absorbing blankets, usually meant to acoustically treat, actually yielded a certain degree of sound proofing.

A very cost efficient solution with incredible results!

Q) How can I control traffic noise entering the patio section of my home I don’t want 100% sound proofing, but the best i can do to get the maximum gain?

A) You will need a dense material based on Mass Loaded Vinyl that is Weather proof and UV resistant.

Sound absorbing material such as foam blankets or anything of the sort hang over the fence will do nothing for soundproofing of your house.

Many people confuse these terms. “Absorbing sound”  means sucking up the sound that is already in your room.

“Soundproofing” means preventing the sound from entering (in your case) the room.

Creating a Drum Room – Interview with Podcaster Michael O’Neal

‘’Producer’s Choice Sound Blankets are so worth it. They are a Godsend.’’

nicolemichaelinterviewThis comes from award winning podcaster Michael O’Neal during a video interview with VocalBoothToGo.com. Michael is the founder and host of a nominated 2O13 Stitcher Award Best New Show, The Solopreneur Hour – Job Security for the Unemployable.  Aside from podcasting, he also is a professional drummer. The challenge of having multiple roles created a need for a professional studio space to record his podcast show but also soundproof enough so he could utilize it as a Producer’s Choice acoustic blankets – and not get into noise disturbance trouble.

‘’The houses in my neighborhood are in close quarters, about 100 years old and the rooms couldn’t be less sealed,’’ Michael told VocalBoothToGo.com.‘’ I used Gobos in the corners and behind my drum set but they really didn’t do much at all.’’

Don’t Forget About Acoustics and Soundproofing When Designing a Home Studio

It goes without question that in today’s competitive world of voiceover, you will need to invest in a home studio of some kind. Your home studio will be essential for auditions, practice, and paid projects as they flow in. However, the cost of equipping a home studio may vary anywhere from a few hundred dollars to several thousand, depending on your individual needs.

When considering planning out your home recording studio, two important aspects must be addressed: soundproofing and acoustic room treatment. It’s quite obvious that your recordings should not have any sounds that do not belong such as traffic, barking dogs, noisy neighbors or a lawn mower passing by. Nonetheless, your recordings should not make you sound as if you are recording in a fish bowl either. Where do you start…

Q Have you compared Acoustic Foam to Producer’s Choice Acoustic Blankets?

A) Yes, we compared the two types of products against each other — acoustic foam, Aurolex Studiofoam Wedges, and Producer’s Choice Sound Blankets. An article about these findings can be found here. Comparison with acoustic foam.

Do Producer’s Choice Acousic Blankets shrink after wash?

In this video we tested how much sound blankets shrink after wash. Producer’s Choice acoustic blankets shrink about 1-2 inches in length and width after the wash.
This happens because the blankets expand and get thicker.
This video also provides an interesting example of Producer’s choice acoustic blankets in action.
Most of the audio is done in an untreated environment of the Laundromat. The end summary was recorded using the same camera, but surrounded with Producer’s choice blankets.
There is a big difference in the quality of recording.

Recommendations on using Producer’s Choice acoustic Blankets: http://www.vocalboothtogo.com/vocal-b…

Q: I live near a major flight path and need to reduce noise coming through the bedroom window. I thought your blankets would be a great solution, but unfortunately, they are not quite wide enough. Would the blankets work in someway?

A) You could hang the sound blankets two side-by-side but the blankets will work somewhat. You should consider the soundproofer curtains. These curtains come in 48-inch max width.

Q: Do you recommend using Producer’s Choice Sound Blankets in a warehouse where a marching band rehearses?

A) Most definitely. Our Producer’s Choice brand of sound blankets have been tested and successfully used in acoustic treatment of recording studios and also used in large conference halls for special events. The blankets are easy to hang and easy to use. Here are tips when hanging sound blankets.

Q: What to do when you have a piano in an apartment on an upper floor and don’t want to disturb neighbors?

A) To lessen the sound of Piano for your downstairs neighbor without major work: you can do the following:

1) Place the piano legs on rubber pads. -> this will reduce the sound transmission through structural elements.

2) cover the back of the Piano with VB70 or MS 70 Blanket. -> This will dampen the sound from sounding board.
