Voice Actor/Voice Over Coach Randye Kaye on Transforming a Bedroom into a Recording Studio

In this Video voice actor and voice over coach Randye Kaye shows her home recording set up. Randye is using 2 Producer’s Choice acoustic Blankets with 2 Ceiling Track kits (Vocal Booth on Track) from http://www.VocalBoothToGo.com.
Using Vocal booth on tracks allows for instant acoustic room treatment and immediate transformation of a bedroom into a home recording studio with great sound on an “on demand” basis.
In this set up Randye used two Producer’s choice blankets VB72G (large-sound-blankets-producers-choice-wgrommets-blackwhite)
with 2 Ceiling Track kits (Vocal Booth on Tracks (7 ft Ceiling Track Kit))
The advantage of using ceiling track kit and sound absorption Acoustic panels is not only a great sounding recording, but also that you do not lose any of your floor space in your room!

Q: I live near a major flight path and need to reduce noise coming through the bedroom window. I thought your blankets would be a great solution, but unfortunately, they are not quite wide enough. Would the blankets work in someway?

A) You could hang the sound blankets two side-by-side but the blankets will work somewhat. You should consider the soundproofer curtains. These curtains come in 48-inch max width.

Q: Do you recommend using Producer’s Choice Sound Blankets in a warehouse where a marching band rehearses?

A) Most definitely. Our Producer’s Choice brand of sound blankets have been tested and successfully used in acoustic treatment of recording studios and also used in large conference halls for special events. The blankets are easy to hang and easy to use. Here are tips when hanging sound blankets.

The 3 x 3 Soundproof(er) Booth Vocal Booth Used as a Practice Room for Singing

Mobile soundproof(er) vocal booth SB33 from http://www.VocalBoothToGo.com proved to be efficient in stopping the sound from going out of the booth.
(In the video it is briefly shown how to assemble the Sound Booth. Assembly time is about 10 – 15 minutes).
Sound booth reliable reduced the sound level by approximately 30 decibel.
By a special request from one of our customers we also tested the booth performance with doubling the sound proof walls of the booth. You can hear the difference between single wall Booth and double wall booth.

CoVB can be used in variety of settings, which makes it superior to any other available product out there — you can plant it on desk, car, picnic table — any surface to support its weight. It can be placed on your lap or it can be used hanging off a hook or a tree branch. Anything.

For voice over actors, we provided an option to have the CoVB mounted on a microphone stand. The specially designed support table and the bracket fit standard microphone stand poles.

Why Acoustic Foam Sounds Boxy or Boomy: Comparing Portable Vocal Booths

Why does acoustic foam sound “boxy” or “boomy”?

We hear this statement from more and more people who have  tried foam-based portable vocal booths and then switched over to our portable Carry-on Vocal Booth Pro. The Carry-on utilizes Producer’s Choice Blankets, and because of this, the end product is a much better sound.

According to seasoned voice over actors who have had an opportunity to experience different options, the foam-line portable vocal booths as well as the full-size (walk-in) mobile vocal booths, tend to result in a “boxy’  or “boomy” sound.  After testing the Carry-on Vocal Booth Pro, they realized that sound is “dead-on” resulting in a clearer and better recording quality.

It is easy to see why the Carry-on Vocal Booth beats foam based portable vocal booths in the area of portability, ease of set-up, practicality, longevity and durability. However, the most important part of a vocal booth – the sound quality — needed some investigation.
