Tips and Tricks for Using Producer’s Choice Acoustic Sound Blankets

Sound blankets are an effective and economical alternative to acoustic foam. In other articles, we discuss the cost efficiency of acoustic sound blankets versus acoustic foam, superior acoustic quality as well as the versatility of applications. This article, however, was triggered by a question of the DVX user forum:

“I haven’t been able to get much feedback on this subject but does anyone have tips or tricks for sound blankets?

Indeed, acoustic blankets might seem like a simple product, and yet if used properly, you can get more for your money than with using acoustic foam.  It is also a misconception to think that the blankets are simply a “cheaper” alternative — and if you can afford, you should use acoustic foam instead.

On the contrary, Producer’s Choice Acoustic Blankets have been successfully used by professional film makers with multimillion-dollar budgets such as Century 21 Studios, HBO, and other professional film and music studios worldwide.

So, how do you use acoustic blankets effectively? Here are some tips and tricks to using Producer’s Choice blankets.

Soundproof(er) Booth 3 X 3 Used As A Practice Room

Portable Soundproof(-er) sound booth SB33 is designed to be used in apartments, houses or any place where sound isolation is important. Design first with the voice over actors and audio recording producers in mind this booth works very well for music practice. In this video we tested it if it provides sufficient sound reductions to be used as a Practice room for playing Trumpet. This is a real customer. She wanted to make sure that the sound reduction would be sufficient to play her trumpet at home. She expected the sound level will be around or below 70 dB ( loudness of working TV at normal sound level). She played as loud as she could…..
Results were extremely exciting! She got the booth, I got the sale and HUGE portion of dopamine release, seeing that our product really works and delivers affordable and effective solutions. This booth is 40L x40W x 80H. Includes specially constructed Sound Block layer with sound dampening layer and plus acoustic blankets for completely dead and non-boomy acoustics.

Reducing the Noise from Dogs in Kennels and Shelters . . . Using Sound Blankets

Reducing the Noise from Barking Dogs in Kennels and Shelters

It has long been documented that audible sound has profound physiological and psychological effects on all animals and can disturb the healthy equilibrium of the body.

This also means that noise affects pets – especially those who are boarded in animal shelters and kennels that are too noisy from barking dogs. The noise can be a physical stressor, especially on dogs, and can lead to behavioral, physiological, and anatomical responses.

In the article published in American Journal of Veterinary research, “Effects of Kennel Noise on Hearing in Dogs,” the authors found that acoustic analysis of the kennel environments revealed equivalent sound level values ranging between 100 and 108 dB sound pressure level .

Review of Acoustic Blankets Mounting Tracks

I suggest you to take the blankets to a Laundromat and wash in a commercial washer with regular amount of detergent. Do not put too much detergent, because your blankets will start smelling like Laundromat!
Then dry them in a tumble dry at high heat.I suggest to go through several 12 minutes cycles, so you can straighten up the blanket in between the drying cycles.

Q: Do you offer free shipping?

A) Free shipping, most of the time, is usually some type of trick to entice the buyer into making a purchase or to buy something that normally would not sell.  Most companies will actually add-on the shipping charges into the total price, so essentially, you are paying for the shipping.

To keep our prices low (and not have any type of hidden charges), we do not offer free shipping. Our products are heavy but at a low price. This is why even with the discounted shipping rates, the price seems to be high compare to the cost of the product.

To offer “free shipping” it would have to be built into the price of the product. Since we ship worldwide, we do not think this is to our customer’s advantage.

Please read VocalBoothToGo.com’s return policy.

Q: I’m a VO talent and just moved near a very busy street. Do you think, for broadband noise reduction, that the Producer’s Choice blanket curtains, combined with bass traps, a cloud on the ceiling and some foam would do the trick?

A) Producer’s Choice blankets are designed for many things and for this purpose too. In fact, blankets are the only product from your list that can be used as a barrier. If you hang it over the window, it will absorb sound passing through it somewhat. So the noise will be somewhat reduced.

You might say that foam is also flat (relatively), but blankets are more massive so they will block about 4-5 dB — which is enough for the human ear to feel the difference.
